Academics from TUS, TCD and Irish business VRAI sign up for a multinational consortium who will aim on applying XR tech for articles generation and usage.
A new EU-funded, Irish-based mostly challenge aims to leverage the so-termed ‘metaverse’ – or extended actuality (XR) tech – to advantage the media and arts sectors.

The €9m Transmixr undertaking is to be led out of the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS). It will bring together a consortium of researchers, design and style companions and media organizations from 19 international locations.
Transmixr is becoming funded by the EU’s Horizon Europe fund, which is devoted to new technologies and innovation. It will concentration on supporting remote collaboration methods between media and articles creators who use XR, as well as supplying an avenue for intake of XR media encounters.
Dr Niall Murray, the TUS-primarily based coordinator of Transmixr, claimed it would “ignite the immersive media sector by enabling new narrative visions”. Murray is based mostly at the university’s Athlone campus. He is also an investigator operating with Science Basis Ireland’s (SFI) Adapt Centre.
