How to use NFT as Twitter Profile Picture

[ad_1]

Twitter introduced last week a new feature that lets you add NFTs as a profile picture. This is nothing more than a way to show off the NFTs collection you have. As of now, this feature could be used only from the iOS app but once you have updated with the NFT image, it would show up in the hexagonal throughout all the platforms.

Hexagon Shaped NFTs

Using this feature like shown in the screenshot above, you would require you to actually associate your crypto wallet with the Twitter account and then it would be seamless to use the NFTs as profile pictures.

A few things to remember

There are a couple of things you need to remember before jumping into adding NFTs as profile pictures.

  • First things first, twitter will never be involved into any crpto transactions. This feature is just a way to showcase your NFTs in Twitter. It has nothing to do with the buying or selling so it will never request you for any transactions.
  • Twitter doesn’t require your private key for any reason. So, any request to share that is a scam.
  • Twitter stores your public wallet address to maintain the connection between your twitter account and also your crypto wallet.

If all of these seems a little too much, then here’s a refresher of what NFTs are and how you can manage them.

NFTs and NFT Profile Pictures

So, NFTs are non-fungible tokens which means its a non-interchangable data that is stored on the blockchain. Its not like a file on your computer which you can copy and copy and copy. Once its on the blockchain, its permanent and it cannot be copied. Obviously you can sell it or buy it but those become permanent record of the blockchain ledger.

NFTs are mostly files like photos, videos and audio. Unlike cryptocurrencies, NFTs can be identified easily while currencies can be identified only via transactions as to who bought it or sold it.

So, what is NFT Profile picture?

Currently art pieces are mainly a big part of the NFT collections all across the world. So, if you have an NFT art piece, Twitter allows you to use it as a profile picture but it would look different from the normal profile picture because of its hexagonal shape.

Even if people take screenshots of your NFT and use it, their NFT profile picture would be a circular shaped one. Only you would have it as a hexagonal shaped structure.

Supported Wallets

At the moment only 6 crypto wallets have the support to be used as profile pictures in any platforms. We can expect this list to grow once the NFT world becomes saturated with tools and services.

The supported wallets are:

  • Argent
  • Coinbase Wallet
  • Ledger Live
  • MetaMask
  • Rainbow
  • Trust Wallet

Out of this, presently from what I have read online, everybody is using Coinbase to link their profile pictures NFTs.

Please be aware that only Twitter Blue subscribers will be able to use their NFTs as profile pictures.

How to change NFT Profile pictures

These are the steps to change the profile pictures of Twitter as NFTs.

  1. Open Twitter in your iOS device. Please make sure that you have Twitter Blue subscription and also your crypto wallet linked.
  2. Once you are in the Profile page, tap on Edit Profile. Tap Edit Profile
  3. In the Edit screen, tap on the profile picture. Now you will see two option. Edit Profile section
  4. Tap on Choose NFT. Now, if you haven’t already linked your wallet, you can do it now. Choose NFT
  5. After linking, tap on the NFT you would like to set as your profile picture. Your NFTs
  6. Now, you can resize and crop the image as you can see in the hexagonal shape.
  7. Once you have done that, tap Done at the top right corner. Tap Done
  8. Now your NFT will be set as your profile picture in the hexagonal shape as you can see below in this screenshot. Hexagon Shaped NFTs
  9. Whenever someone taps on your profile picture, they will have an option to see the NFT details like who created it and who owns it etc., NFT Details

That’s about it. Its super easy to change your Twitter profile picture as NFTs which you own in your crypto wallets.

There’s a huge conotation saying that NFTs are going to be future with all the crypto currencies and all the NFTs mania that’s going on right now. So, if you believe in blockchain technology, then you should probably look into NFTs and maybe try to get them as assets which could become extremely valuable in the future.
